Last week Davis Business Solutions, Inc. received an early Christmas present from one of our customers, Duffy's Equipment Services, Inc. Below is an email sent out from Patrick Duffy himself.

"We got our Christmas present early at Duffy’s this year. It came in the form of new software and was delivered on November 15th. A wonderful gift that we are enjoying more each day. We would like to think we deserved it after all we have been through.
In May of this year I made the decision to jump into the Business Central software with both feet. We needed to get off the archaic system we were on which was stable but very limited and go to something that could grow with us. Patience is one of the many virtues I do not possess and this time jumping was not such a good idea. For the next several months we watched our inventory grow by leaps and bounds as the parts we ordered got shipped to the wrong addresses and the quantities were doubled or even tripled. Crashes, lock ups and roadblocks were hourly events. Morale and cash flow were at an all time low when the announcement hit that BC had been sold to Davis. Next came the word that BC would soon be shelved. What would that mean for us?
I got a call from Jennifer Davis or Mrs. Clause if you prefer, laying out their plan. She was very empathetic to our plight and assured me we would not be left to twist in the wind. True to their word the good elves at Davis worked very hard to bring what data they could out from BC and into their system. They held training sessions in Chicago as well as our location to get us up to speed as soon as possible. They compressed a 6 month conversion process into 2 months. It wasn’t the prettiest they had ever done but we had no time to spare. They bent over backwards to make this as smooth and painless as possible and even put up with my lack of patience.
We went live with Global Edge on November 15th and haven’t looked back since. If we had the full allotment of time for set up and training I am sure this would have been a seamless transition. We had a few bumps when we first started but they were there to flatten them out for us. Our systems are all running well and accurately. Gone are the lock ups and crashes. Their support people answer phone calls and email when we need them to. Modules work together and parts go where they are supposed to. Imagine that! Our morale has returned and Duffy’s is the fun friendly place to work that it used to be. Now that we have taken a physical inventory we have learned that in the 6 months we ran on BC our inventory increased by 35%. Adding that to the monies we “invested” in BC and the overtime it cost us to try and run our business with all the impediments we encountered it’s not hard to see that this jump was not a money saver.
Davis is more expensive than BC was on the surface. In hindsight it would have been much cheaper and certainly easier if we had gone with a reputable and tested company like Davis to begin with. It’s like we tell our customers, “You get what you pay for”. So you can feel bad for us or you can laugh at us but whatever you do don’t make the same mistake with your business. Go to Davis and get it done right the first time. I believe in Santa."

Thank you,
Patrick Duffy

Thank you Patrick Duffy for the wonderful message and thank you to all of our customers. Have a Happy New Year!
